    i-Q: liam hodges

He may be missing his front two, but London menswear designer Liam Hodges gets his teeth stuck into the 20 questions we ask everyone.

Liam Hodges‘ gritty and poetic menswear vision takes in everything from boy racers to pirate radio, the end of the world to traditional menswear tribes. It all gets reimagined, sometimes literally, into the colourful patchwork that makes up Liam’s world. After a stellar autumn/winter 17 collection, which drew inspiration from “looking for a vocation in the end of the world” we caught up with fashion’s gentle giant to grill him i-Q style, with 20 questions we ask everyone.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Older. I don’t really know what I wanted to be when I was going up, I didn’t really have dreams, I think I just wanted to be older, or Peter Pan, maybe. I used to go to pick my sister from school with my mum, dressed up as Peter Pan.

Do you keep a diary? What’s in it?
    Dates and names.

What’s the last dream that you can remember having?
While in Paris I dreamt that I went to LA for showrooms.

What would you most like to change about the world?
    Ignorance.

Have you ever pretended to be someone else in the mirror?
Yeah quite a few people actually, Michael Jackson and 50 Cent mainly.

When was the last time you had an argument?
Just now with myself trying to write this.

    Do you meditate?
No I’d like too but I don’t really have time.

What would you look like if you were an alien?
The same. I am an alien.

What did you do on your last day off?
Bought some trainers, went to the Tate Modern, had Vegan dinner at Pamela’s, and then re-enacted Ghost in my friends pottery studio.

    What’s your greatest ambition?
    To run a marathon.

    Do you have any phobias?
    Things with tails.

What do you talk about when you get your hair cut?
I just switch off and let them get on with it, sometimes I think about what I’m going to do when its over.

What do you think happens when you die?
    TV static.

What would you like to be reincarnated as and why?
Something that can fly or something that swims deep

If you could do anything without fear of repercussion, what would you do?
    Play Grand Theft Auto IRL

If you could ask anyone a question, who would you ask, and what?
I’d ask McDonald’s the reason for the shape of their chicken nuggets.

    Describe yourself in four words.
    Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Antiestablishmentarianism, Hippopotomonstrosesquipedalian, Honorificabilitudinitatibus.

Have you lied at any point during this interview?
    No.
