After a month-long U.S. excursion supported by London noisemaker Helm, Danish rockers Iceage are embarking on a jaunt around Europe before storming Australia in the New Year.
From Antwerpen to Zurich, Vienna to Paris, the group will feature at noted venues like hedonist’s paradise Berghain Kantine (24th November) and London’s storied 100 Club (2nd December). Helm returns to support the group on their Berlin date.
This frenetic live activity follows the October release of the band’s third album Plowing Into The Fields Of Love. Their creative re-emergence sees the group shift away from their style as misanthropic young punks into something altogether more vibrant and passionate.
If Iceage’s past material – 2011’s debut New Brigade and 2013’s You’re Nothing – is the soundtrack to a frigid Copenhagen night or a kitchen sink drama, Plowing Into The Fields Of Love conjures up sunny, sandy Americana: a headstrong young hustler leaving a broken home to make it big (Glassy Eyed, Dormant and Veiled), a blossoming, Edward Hopper-esque affair in a downtown bar (The Lord’s Favourite) or a stoned biker surveying the great outdoors a la Easy Rider (Abundant Living). Creatively, Iceage have come in from the cold.
