It doesn’t take a genius to work out that theres a lot of heat on the grime scene at the moment. This means that whilst the scene garners more attention, theres more producers and MC’s that may go unnoticed. Impey is not one of them.
The Bristol born youngen’s weighty concoction of militant beats, rumbling bass tones and scary synth work saw him breakout with the ferocious debut that was Bangclap. A track that continues to do serious damage in the dance, it flaunted Impey’s penchant for the instrumental side of the genre but now, we see the producer lend his hand to an AJ Tracey vocal on his remix for Last Japan’s new banger, Ascend.Stripping the track right back, Impey reveals a straight no-prisoners edit of the forthcoming on Tomas Fraser’s Coyote Records release.
