i-D Beauty Editor Isamaya Ffrench has today been announced as Yves Saint Laurent Beauté’s UK Make-up Ambassador. Isamaya’s revolutionary catwalk face-painting and avant garde techniques caught the eye of the French beauty house, who explain that, “Isamaya is amongst a unique breed of make-up artists who are able to push creative boundaries that takes beauty beyond just making a face pretty, by creating something quirky, surprising, and unexpected”.
Isamaya says, “It’s a great privilege to be part of the YSL Beauté family! To be affiliated with such an iconic brand and especially with a creative position is really exciting for me as an artist. I’m looking forward to a wonderfully collaborative journey in makeup. Lloyd Simmonds’ brand vision is definitely an inspiration and the product portfolio continues to be at the forefront of makeup innovation.” She also posted an emoji-laden instagram version to her 43.3k followers.
Having studied 3D art at Chelsea College of Art and then product design at CSM, Ffrench worked for a theater company, where she started to develop the face-painting style that would eventually see her create catwalk make-up for Junya Watanabe, Agi and Sam, Christopher Raeburn and loads more, as well as shooting with fashion’s top photographers and becoming i-D’s Contributing Beauty Editor.
