Chanel has always held it’s fantastical Cruise and Métiers d’Art shows all over the globe and Karl Lagerfeld will be exercising his wings once again in 2015, according to WWD, with a reprise of Chanel’s Salzburg show on March 31st in New York and this years Cruise taking place on May 4th at the Zaha Hadid designed Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, the same place as the Culture Chanel exhibition The Sense of Places last September. 2015’s Métiers d’Art show will be held in Rome on December 1st.
However Chanel seems to be testing where the fashion world’s allegiances truly lie again, after last month’s Chanel Métiers d’Art vs Victoria’s Secret Show blow out on 2nd December. They have once again chosen to show one of their most coveted collections, Cruise 2016, on the same date as one of the years major fashion events – the Met Ball in New York. Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner, both rumoured to have spots in the VS Angel line-up last December but instead walked the Chanel show in Salzburg, as well as the rest of the supermodels, editors and #frow who would normally attend both, will once again have to choose between the dreamy Chanel Cruise show and the fashion world’s equivalent of the Oscars…
