jacquemus celebrates the provençal woman in spring/summer 17 campaign

Another beautiful love letter to the South of France.

Simon Porte Jacquemus’ collections routinely take inspiration from Southern France, where the designer spent his childhood. His spring/summer 16 offering, which minted him a critical and retail success, was an enchanting trip to la plage, echoing Nice’s white sands, cabana stripes and turquoise waters. A few seasons later, he’s returned to his hometown for inspiration, though the woman he has envisioned for spring/summer 17 is more likely to be found sowing seeds than lathering on tanning oil.

The collection, warmly received when it made its September debut in Paris, has now been brought to our attention once again with this David Luraschi-lensed campaign imagery. Belgian model Rose Van Bosstraeten is turned into a figurine on a ceramic pedestal, clutching at the symbols of a bygone provençal era: pottery, wheat, bread and the like.

Rose opened and closed the spring/summer 17 runway presentation; her appearance in the campaign suggests the French designer has found his first formal muse. According to the veteran model herself (she walked her first Balenciaga show in 1999) Jacquemus requested to meet with her earlier in the year, just to tell her how eager he was for the pair to work together. Peek at the images below.
