jaden smith admits he mimics kanye, drake and tyler

'If we aren’t allowed to use other peoples ideas, why are we even all on the same planet?'

He’s got a rep for writing philosophical spiels on his Twitter, like “How Can Mirrors Be Real If Our Eyes Aren’t Real,” and “Trees Are Never Sad Look At Them Every Once In Awhile They’re Quite Beautiful,” but Jaden Smith’s latest rant is actually pretty motivating. In a video released through Chaotic Conditions, Jaden explains what a MSFT — the name of his clothing line — actually is. “For me being a MSFT is somebody that is like, ‘you know what, I’m not gonna conform to society, I’m gonna be a divergent thinker, somebody that thinks of multiple solutions to one problem’,” he said before going into a Kanye-like monologue about why he’s decided to make his own music and design his own clothes. To be honest, his reasoning is totally legitimate: “I’m going to make my own music because I don’t like the music I’m hearing because all it’s talking about is hoes and clothes and money.”

But the best bit the 17-year-old-who’s-wiser-than-you said was about mimicking your idols and stealing ideas in order to find yourself and what you like. The gist is: you can copy Kanye, Drake and Odd Future — you can even copy Willow and Jaden Smith — and that’s OK. The bottom line is, you’ll never be them, you can only be you, and it’s not a bad thing to use other people’s ideas to find that out. He explains it better:
