Janelle Monáe threw her support behind the Black Lives Matter movement yesterday by leading a rally and protest against police brutality in Philadelphia. In a clip shared on Twitter, the singer is seen rallying the crowd with a reference to the #SayHerName hashtag, which has become a banner for sharing the stories of black women who have suffered at the hands of US law enforcement officers. “You’re going to say his name and say her name. Alright, can I get a clap?” the singer calls out in the clip.
