Moschino and Thomas Tait have been announced as the guest brands selected to show at major Italian trade show Pitti Immagine Uomo in Florence this June.

Moschino is an Italian fashion house, but since Jeremy Scott took the helm in October 2013, the menswear collection has not been shown in Italy. Having preferred to show his bright and brash wares to the industry and legions of his cartoon-clad fans during London Collections: Men, Moschino’s special guest appearance at this year’s Pitti Uomo will mark the first time a menswear collection by the energetic designer will be shown in the brand’s home country.

CEO of Pitti Immagine Raffaello Napoleone explained Moschino’s selection: “In Jeremy Scott’s collections, we see the humor, the irreverence, the tendency to explode myths, and the manipulation of pop iconography – all that we knew to be part of Franco Moschino’s spirit and designs.”

Scott has said that he is honored to accept the invitation to show Moschino menswear in Florence, describing it as “one of the world’s most beautiful and culturally rich cities”

Pitti’s womenswear special guest is London-based designer Thomas Tait. The softly-spoken Canadian graduated from the womenswear MA at Central Saint Martins in 2010 and quickly became a favorite of both fans and critics, taking home the inaugural LVMH Young Designer Prize in 2014.

Noting that Thomas Tait’s shows have become a highlight of the London Fashion Week schedule, Director of Communications and Events at Pitti Immagine, Lapo Cianchi explains that Tait was selected for “his coherence, sartorial skills, unexpected shapes and devotion to design,” adding that he “is never afraid to experiment and push the envelope.”
