Last week, John Galliano was in London to present fashion’s reigning queen of style Anna Wintour with her Outstanding Achievement award at the BFAs, and it’s just been announced he’ll be back again in January to present his first ‘Artisanal’ Haute-Couture collection as Creative Director of Maison Martin Margiela.
While those used to seeing the fashion house as a firm fixture at Paris Couture Week will be bitterly disappointed over their loss, Galliano’s decision to show in London, the place where he grew up before moving to the city of lights in 1989, has all the warmth of a homecoming. With the collection set to show on January 12th at ”Tea Time” we can’t help but feel it will be a nod to all that is quintessentially British. And if Galliano’s years of dedication and sheer skill as a designer is anything to go by, it’s destined to be one of the most exciting shows of the year.
