The rare book dealers nerd out over the German photographer at Rei Kawakubo’s New York outpost.

Rei Kawakubo’s resident rare book dealers and avid Instagrammers first captured our hearts back in September when they arrived at Dover Street Market New York armed with an arsenal of super limited edition and out of print Comme des Garcons books and catalogs. After launching Belgique, an insane compendium of all things Belgian design in their London shop, IDEA are settling into their permanent DSMNY home with an ode to Juergen Teller, opening today.

It seems the German fashion photographer is also something of a literary nerd, having published more books than any other contemporary fashion photographer by a mile. Since releasing his first major title back in 96, there have been more than thirty Juergen Teller books (and that’s not even counting magazines and catalogs!)

IDEA’s Juergen collection has got em all, from his most popular monographs to uber rare publications you’d be hard pressed to track down. And what’s more, the collection’s centerpiece is a nod to yours truly! According to IDEA, Juergen’s first book was actually a simple cardboard box published in Japan back in 92. Containing 31 card prints, the box includes classic images of from an early fashion story for i-D styled by Venetia Scott, as well as his iconic portraits of Kurt Cobain.

The IDEA shop will also feature special ‘Juergen’ bags as part of a limited run produced just for New York after they sold out in London last summer. Swing by DSMNY and grab yourself a slice of fashion history today!
