The Congolese “sapeurs,” which stands for the Societe des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Elegantes, or to you – the Society of Tastemakers and Elegant People, take the myth of Parisian elegance and bring it to the poverty-stricken streets of Brazzaville. Taking his inspiration from this sartorial movement, Junya Watanabe’s autumn/winter 15 dandies marched down the red carpet in patchwork suits, ankle swingers and top hats with funky sideburns and dyed beards. The classic tuxedo was reworked in fuzzy knits and shredded patches and matched smart jackets with crisp jeans. In a word? Suave.
