Kano has dropped a new video for “T-shirt Weather in the Manor,” a track from his stunning album Made In The Manor —which has been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, it was announced today.
Packed with home video-style footage, the promo celebrates summertime in the city. Friends and family dressed in all white enjoy barbecuing in the park, having water fights with champagne, and even running egg and spoon races. The video takes a darker turn as Kano references the violence that can spring out of hot summer nights. Alone in the dark streets, the grime legend shows off his inimitable flow and on-point social commentary.
“I knew if I dive in and I really talk about stories that I lived through and people that mean a lot to me, you’re going to have the good times and the bad times, and the nice side to the Manor and you’re going to have the slightly more sinister side,” Kano said of this duality in a documentary released to coincide with the album.
