Though many fans assumed that Kanye would drop his album during or straight after the blockbuster listening party slash fashion show at Madison Square Garden last night, updates about the release of The Life of Pablo have been notably absent today. Until now.
After a flurry of tweets defending controversial lyrics about Taylor Swift in album track FACTS — with Swift reportedly cautioning him for their “strong misogynistic message” — Kanye then repeated his livestreamed fashion career dreams, tweeting “I want to be the creative director of Hermes,” before announcing, “Now that the album is finally finished it’s back to Good Fridays,” linking to the track 30 Hours on Soundcloud.
This particular release is unlikely to placate those calling out Kanye for misogyny, however, as they include the previously leaked bars that are widely considered to be about his ex Amber Rose. “My ex said she gave me the best years of her life / I saw a recent picture of her, guess she was right,” Kanye raps over breathy strings and a ticking beat, referencing Nelly’s E.I. and following up with vintage Yeezy wit in lines like: “I remember being nervous to do Victoria’s Secret, ’til I pictured everybody with their clothes off”.

A very high percentage of comments on the track came from fans demanding to know when the full album will be released, and soon enough Kanye followed up on Twitter. “The album is being mastered and will be out today,” he explains, noting that he has, “added on a couple of tracks”. A photo of an updated track list shows that the album now includes: Low Lights; I Miss The Old Kanye; Silver Surfer Intermission; FACTS; and the already-released 30 Hours and No More Parties in LA.
