New York Fashion Week’s spring/summer 17 season is kicking off with a daytime banger. A representative has just confirmed to WWD that Kanye West will be staging another epic presentation to debut his Yeezy Season 4 collection — and hopefully some brand new music. West’s Yeezy presentations have been getting increasingly elaborate since he made his NYFW debut with a show conceptualized in collaboration with Vanessa Beecroft and soundtracked by the world premiere of a track called “Wolves” — which has since become a Steven Klein-directed music video for Balmain’s fall/winter 16 campaign (Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing also designed majestic custom outfits for the entire Kardashian-West clan in February). In September last year guests were treated to an early version of “Fade” featuring Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign. And at his Madison Square Garden Season 3 extravaganza, West played his latest album, The Life of Pablo, in its entirety from his personal laptop, partied with collaborators including Young Thug and A$AP Rocky, and closed out with a teaser of a video game about his mom flying through the gates of heaven.
It’ll be difficult to top that combo but West has spent most of his adult life proving the impossible possible. Clothing-wise, Season 3 saw West inject bolder colors and new silhouettes into his standard aesthetic, so it’ll be interesting to see if that trajectory continues.
Yeezy Season 4 is slated for September 7, 2016 at a TBC time in the afternoon. Last time, West also threw a release party for his Season 2 Zine, a Yeezy-centric event far more welcoming of gatecrashers should your show invite not arrive in the next three weeks.
