Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake, Paul Simon, and Taylor Swift. No, that’s not a Glastonbury line-up leak, it’s the insane roster of musicians slated to make appearances on Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary special on February 15th.
New York’s favorite late night laugh factory announced its plans for the blowout via an advertisement which aired during last night’s Super Bowl. Former SNL stars including Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Molly Shannon, Kristen Wiig, and Maya Rudolph are confirmed to appear, as are Jack Nicholson, Betty White, Jim Carey, Christopher Walken, and many more.
While West, McCartney, Timberlake, Simon, and Swift’s appearances have been confirmed, it’s unclear whether they’ll be performing on stage or in sketches. Could this mean a live rendition of West and McCartney’s “Only One,” or Taylor Swift strapping on a catholic school girl skirt and joining Molly Shannon’s amazingly awkward superstar Mary Catherine Gallagher for another spirited rendition of “The Little Drummer Boy?” We can’t wait to find out.
