Earlier this month when Kanye West’s headlining appearance at 2016’s Governors Ball was rained out, he took to Twitter to announce a sold-out 2am show that caused a bigger storm than the one that washed out his gig. Disciples flocked to the streets of the East Village around Webster Hall to pray at the church of Yeezus before police shut it down and left Kanye stans feeling like this was just a bad God Dream.
But the makers of Kanye’s only scheduled North American festival appearance in 2016 are doing right by the devout, and casually announced the second coming on Instagram this morning.
The first (and potentially only?) ever Meadows Arts and Music Festival is an entire new festival created in the name of Yeezus from the organizers of Governors Ball. The Weeknd and Chance the Rapper will also headline the two-day event on October 1 and 2. Other highlights include Grimes, Pusha T, and a Twin Shadow Prince tribute.
Tickets for the event go on sale Thursday, but Gov Ball ticket-holders will get a promo code for first dibs on tomorrow’s pre-sale. Lace up your Yeezys if you plan on booking it to Queens ’cause we on an ultralight beam…
