Karlie Kloss routinely turns our hearts to goo with her St. Louis charm, road-tripping friendship for the ages with Taylor Swift and world-changing charity cookie campaign. And now this: yesterday, the 22-year-old supermodel announced the launch of “Kode with Karlie,” a new scholarship, in partnership with the Flatiron School in New York, that will enable 20 young women to take the tech academy’s two-week Software Engineering course this summer.
She may have shed her Angel wings this year, but she will always be an angel to us.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a fashion model or high school student, understanding code is so important because it’s the language that runs our world!” Karlie told Buzzfeed. “Young women are shaping the world we live in and code is a tool for us to continue to have a big voice and say in our future.”
In her free time — when she’s not involved in gravity-defying pilates workouts or baking up a storm with Momofuku mama Christina Tosi — Karlie has herself been learning how to code. Recently, she even operated a drone. As the gap between the tech and fashion worlds continues to narrow, Karlie is, as ever, putting her personal brand to excellent use. Next question: can Taylor code too?
