Yesterday Kelela performed a piano cover of Sade’s 1992 Like A Tattoo. The performance for Huw Stephens’ Piano Sessions on BBC Radio 1 mimicked the moodiness of the 1992 track off Sade’s Love Deluxe. Kelela also treated audiences to a piano version of Waitin, a single off the album Take Me Apart, which finally arrived last week.
Kelela also made an appearance on BBC Two’s Later…With Jools Holland. The R&B singer performed the title track LMK , joining Beck and St. Vincent.
Kelela’s set to visit Australia as a support act for The xx next year, alongside Earl Sweatshirt. The LA-based artist will join the 2018 I See You tour in January, playing for audiences in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. It will be the first time Australia will hear live performances of the tracks off Take Me Apart. Previously, Kelela visited Australia in 2016, where she performed at an exclusive event in Sydney, and Sugar Mountain in Melbourne.
