kendrick lamar’s next album could drop this year

Top Dog Entertainment's latest Instagram post is causing a social media firestorm.

If Top Dog Entertainment is to be believed, 2016 is going to be a great year for new music. Yesterday evening the record label posted a photo that many people would have scrolled straight past, but that’s actually a list of all the TDE releases slated to drop in 2016. Among the names on the whiteboard: K-Dot, aka Kendrick Lamar.

TDE’s president, Dave Free, previously laid out the label’s plans to give us new albums from SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Isaiah Rashad back in January. But the new Kendrick release is almost as juicy as the new mystery artists dubbed John Doe 1 and John Doe 2.

There’s probably no point scheduling a listening party any time soon. Albums announced this early in the year are likely not to drop until December, and the writing alongside Kendrick’s name (??? GET TOP ON THE PHONE) doesn’t exactly suggest his new masterpiece is in its mastering phrase. Still, new ScHoolboy Q and Ab-Soul — apparently in the sample clearance and mixing phrases, respectively — should prove more than enough to tide us over.

Watch TDE’s Instagram for updates, presuming whoever posted this didn’t just get fired.
