This year, tweaks to the traditional fashion calendar became near weekly occurrences; more and more brands are breaking with tradition to follow their own schedules. Among the defectors were Burberry, Tom Ford and Vetements — all elected to split from the industry’s increasingly frantic pace. Now, there’s a new member in the club — Kenzo.
Creative Directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have announced that beginning with fall/winter 17, Kenzo will combine men’s and women’s runway shows. The first mixed presentation will close the Paris men’s shows on January 22. Going forward, the brand will show its main collections in January and June, but maintain a presence during March and September shows with “Memento” — although they didn’t elaborate on what that actually was. Never a dull day in fashion.
