Washington, Claws
It’s been two years since we last heard from singer songwriter Washington. Now she’s back with a new album, Sugardoom and her latest song Claws, a sexy synth-laden pop song exploring intimacy from a super female perspective. Watch the four minute, softly-focussed, synchronised-dance-dream here.
Banoffee, Bubble
We’ve made no secret of our devotion to Banoffee, the experimental dreamboat whose musical evolution continues to inspire us. Her new song Bubble harnesses all the production we’ve loved in her music in the past but includes a new slickness that we’re definitely here for. She explains that “Bubble is a combat to bullies…for the underdogs when they lose sight of their power.” Watch the cute video featuring Banoffee and her buddies here.
Darcy Baylis, I Dream of You
Melbourne musician and producer Darcy Baylis has followed up his 2017 release, Intimacy & Isolation, with a new song called I Dream of You, which he created during a phase of listening to early shoegaze legends like Kevin Shields and Elizabeth Fraser. The track is sparse and emotional capturing the sweet sorrows of being young and in love.
Javan Ash, Bury Me
Bury Me, is the first single from Javan Ash’s upcoming debut EP Like Silk and produced, in fact, by Darcy Baylis. Like Darcy, Javan comes from the school of emotional sincerity and wearing his heart on his musical sleeve. Interestingly Javan got his start drumming in punk and hardcore bands so his turn to alternative electronic hip hop is quite the departure.
Kid Heron, Future Love
Speaking of local musicians in touch with their feels, here we’re premiering the latest single Future Love from neo-soul artist Kid Heron. Citing Erykah Badu as inspiration, this is a silky love song by an artist with smooth running through his veins. The track came out to praise in September but this right here is the first time ever the video, shot around recognisable Melbourne locations, is being shown. Enjoy!
