As far as unlikely matches go, this one could take the cake. Since Mark Ronson instagrammed a photo of Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker in the studio with Lady Gaga a few months ago, it’s been confirmed the three have joined forces to produce Gaga’s latest single. And we couldn’t be more intrigued.
The single, titled ‘Perfect Illusion,’ comes as the perfect explainer to Ronson’s mysterious post, which was captioned only by the word “Illusion.” Ronson is the link in this partnership: he’s collabbed with Parker previously to produce Uptown Special, and is said to have been working extensively with Gaga on her upcoming album, which will be the long-awaited successor to her 2013 Artpop. The single will be Parker’s most high-profile release to date, but given the fact he’s just been tapped by Miguel for a remix, and was covered by Rihanna while on her Anti tour, the partnership with Gaga and Ronson is nothing more than a natural progression for the Perth-born rocker.
Lady Gaga has updated her website, which now resembles a psychedelic rainbow of scrolling headlines, to confirm the single will be released sometime in September. LA-based producer Michael Tucker, aka BloodPop, has also lent his musical talents to producing what we can only hope will be a downright banger. If all goes to plan, it’ll be a perfect amalgamation of Ronson’s quirky electro, Parker’s hypnotic chill and Gaga’s dance floor prowess.
