The fashion industry is fighting its own misconceptions that all models have to be a size 0 by putting Myla Dalbesio in a Calvin Klein campaign, Ashley Graham in the swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated and Candice Huffine in the Pirelli Calendar. France has banned unnaturally skinny models on the runway and the people are calling for us to #DropThePlus. All the while, Lane Bryant has been cooking up its own saucy, size-doesn’t-matter campaign.
Poking fun at the primped to perfection Victoria’s Secret models, Graham, Huffine and six other women model Cacique Intimates – which runs in sizes 12 through to 28 – with the tagline “I’m No Angel.” The hashtag has already garnered praise on social media with users posting it alongside selfies, with captions like, “Because VS couldn’t dream of containing me,” “All shapes are sexy; each one of us is an original and having the confidence & self-acceptance to LOVE THE ONLY YOU THERE IS, IS REALLY SEXY,” and “New day, new definition of sexy! Because beauty is beyond size!” Sexy comes in all shapes and sizes.
