leisure suite: music to…eat alone to in a food court

Let this delicious mix brighten any lonely lunch breaks.

This mix was inspired by the strange ecosystem of mall food courts. It’s a world Leisure Suite‘s Bridgette Le became especially attuned to after returning home to Melbourne from Japan. Feeling low and lost, she’d often retreat into these brightly lit coves during her work lunch break, and increasingly came to notice that regardless of the location, the environments would always feel familiar in the same strange way. “Like Japan, most people I saw were eating alone looking pretty morose and I always thought it was kind of funny how all the tables and chairs were drilled into the ground — like you were trapped against your will in such a depressing space,” she remembers.

In opposition to this creeping vibe, she created this mix to be listened to in those lunch breaks, “almost like an aural hug from me personally, to hopefully brighten up their day.”
