Having met her in her studio days before the show, the embellishing jewels and folkloric prints sizzled in the sunlight making a magical brightness to Fulton’s spring/summer 15 collection. “I love embellishment, and my prints are so important to me, but this season it was also about evolving the silhouette too”, explained Fulton.

Her signature monochrome painted with vivd and bright flowers was there, but it was also about the elongated trousers and column dresses, lusciously oversized in complex wools. “This season is the first collaboration with Woolmark, and it’s been incredibly exciting”, said Fulton. “It opened a lot of doors for me in terms of exploring different materials and the breadth of their resources is amazing. I had so much fun researching!”

Fulton is a designer who’s aesthetic makes for incredibly strong collaborations, and this season’s Woolmark collaboration translated her aesthetic to a great level. Innovative techniques and wools such as Nikke and merino have skirts and dresses a sophisticated and fun feminine edge. Dramatically styled with latex corsets, skirts swished and swayed in a playful manner, but showed a deftness of tailoring. “Myself and my team have been exploring more mature shapes such s the A-line and there are some show pieces that really pushed these explorations”, explained Fulton.

The whole collection itself was inspired by folklore and magic, and the embellishment throughout the collection was a lusciously crystal complex factor. Prints were constructed from triangles, with front panels on dresses fettering throughout accessorised with crystal flowers.
Having met Holly the first time pre-show, the feeling about the collection was one of “intricacy and colour”, yet after the show a smiling Fulton added “one of confidence and strength”. And that it was. We look forward to seeing where Fulton’s colourful adventure leads next!
