God bless Liam Gallagher and his latest GQ interview, which was packed full of brilliant soundbites — including, but certainly not limited to, saying he would never do Carpool Karaoke because he thinks James Corden is a “knobhead.”
Moving on to the subject of his children’s music taste, Liam noted his kid’s rather impressive taste: “My kids fucking love grime music.” He cited Stormz and Skepta as favourites, “[Skepta] seems pretty mad. I like him.”
“They also like that bloke, WhatsApp Rick,” Liam continued. “You know, the American geezer, stylish, funny, gold teeth.” Err, sorry mate, we don’t quite know who that is.
When GQ asked Liam if he might have perhaps meant the New York native A$AP Rocky, Liam replied: “Oh yeah, that’s the fella. WhatsApp Ricky. That’s a better fucking name anyway.”
Hey, we’re glad that Liam and his kids can agree on something. Earlier this year, he called his son Lennon’s choice of t-shirt on the cover of Buffalo zine “a fashion mistake.” Why? Because it was a Blur tee, and as all brit-pop fans know, Liam and Blur’s Damon Albarn have been locked in very long-running feud. Perhaps Lennon might have been better off in a WhatsApp Ricky top.
