The first image of Lily-Rose Depp as Colleen Collette in Kevin Smith’s upcoming film Yoga Hosers has been revealed. Referencing Smith’s best-known film Clerks, Lily-Rose and Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn are seen in ‘Eh-2-ZED’ branded clerk uniforms behind a convenience store counter, looking beautifully bored.
“Colleen Collette and Colleen McKenzie are teenage besties from Winnipeg who love yoga and live on their smartphones,” the film blurb explains, “But when these sophomores get invited to a senior party by the school hottie, the Colleens accidentally uncover an ancient evil buried beneath their Canadian convenience store.”
The comedy-horror film, which also features Johnny Depp, will screen as part of the Midnight program at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. In an erratic promo film for the screening, director Kevin Smith says, “This is the breakthrough year ladies and gentleman. 22 years after I went to Sundance with a movie set in New Jersey convenience store [Clerks], I return as a great filmmaker with a film set in… wait for it… a Canadian convenience store!”
“What do you want me to say, man, I’m out of ideas!” he jokes, “‘Girl Clerks‘, it’s what it is. We call it Yoga Hosers, man, it’s a spin off of Tusk…”. His claim that, “Yoga Hosers is a kids movie, it’s for tween girls,” is unlikely to put others off, given his assertion that, “It’s like Clueless meets Gremlins“.
“Come see our flick!” Smith concludes, “It’s… weird”.
