For the video Warriors, the title track off her new album, Lisa Mitchell has teamed up with some of Australia’s best young film talent. Bringing writer/director Vanessa Gazy and actor Hunter Page-Lochard on board, the trio of prodigious creatives set out to tell the symbolic story of an emotional breakdown, and the journey towards fortification and rebuilding. Gazy explains that with its sister video Warhol, the set of songs “draw upon the headiness, heartbreak and unbearable beauty of adolescence.” That ribbon of youth is threaded through the whole album, which serves as a wider exploration of the fabric between child and adulthood. Gazy continues, “In this story, as in many coming-of-age stories, it is a painful breaking and tearing that prompts this transition.”
