Corbin debuts new music at secret show in Minnesota.

Over the last week, Corbin aka Spooky Black has popped up to play new music. It’s the first time that the alt-rapper/singer has been seen or heard of in over a year. As well as playing played FYF Festival, the Keith Sweat fan played a teeny tiny show to a handful of fans in a small basement bar in his hometown of Minnesota.

Corbin performed Ice Boy, said to be produced by Shlohmo, who’s known for his work with Banks and Tony Lanez. The song is melancholic, in the canon of Corbyn’s past mournful material. However there’s a roughness and ruggedness to his vocal that was missing from past material like the Leaving EP. Channeling his inner Cobain, Corbyn delivered his own particular frame of cerebral heartbreak.

“If you lose interest, leave me to die. It won’t be the first time I won’t mind/Call me pathetic at least I tried/Couldn’t keep these feelings tucked inside,” sings the now 18-year-old, his voice rising to a raw growl.

Corbyn also played Blind, the first song he made with pal Psymun. Rapper Metasota took the place of the track’s original rhymer, Bobby Raps.

The track, and other material also produced by Shlohmo, is said to be taken from an upcoming double album due soon from the teen protégé.
