There’s been “somewhat of a re-launch for Mackintosh, as they elevate the brand in to the luxury market,” says Global Brand Manager Sophie Wright. As well as their recent collection with Band of Outsiders (their second outstanding menswear line with the Californian brand), the British raincoat specialists have now collaborated with Japanese label Hyke for spring/summer 15, which launches in Hostem next month and can be purchased at Dover Street Market Ginza.
The partnership is another indicator of Mackintosh’s new direction working with fashion-led lines. But lovers of their classic coats needn’t worry, according to Wright: “They continue to produce their traditional rubberized rain coats, entirely hand made in Scotland for over 200 years, but now with a more polished aesthetic and slimline fit. In addition, the Mackintosh line now includes a strong offering of wool, cashmere and down outerwear, and is soon to be developed in to a full ready to wear collection.”
