Having racked up a total of 12 BRIT nominations, with two Best International Female wins in 2001 circa Music and 2006 circa Hung Up, Madonna will return to preview her 13th album, Rebel Heart at this year’s awards. Marking 20 years since her last performance, the material girl joins a line up of Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith, George Ezra, Royal Blood and Take That, taking to twitter today to announce it. “Hello to all my UK Rebel Hearts!!! See you at the Brits on Feb 25th #BritsImMadonna #livingforlove #rebelheart”.
“We’re delighted to bring Madonna back to the BRITS,” commented chairman of the event, Max Lousada. “She’s an icon, an innovator and, above all, an entertainer. Having her as part of the show will guarantee an unforgettable night of music.” Ever since she snogged Britney and Christina at the MTV VMAs back in 2003, we’ve been not so secretly hoping for a performance that’s just as brilliantly controversial. Perhaps this will be the year!
The BRIT Awards takes place on 25th February at The O2, London.
