Following in the footsteps of her TV sister Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams is joining the X-Men. The Game of Thrones break out star has signed on to star in New Mutants, a spin off series. She’ll be joined by new queen of horror Anya Taylor-Joy in the Josh Boone directed project.
New Mutants was the first X-Men comic spin-off, and follows a group of teenage mutants as they train to become superheroes. Williams will play Wolfsbane who The Hollywood Reporter described as, “a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf.” It’s a tidy tie in with her Thrones character Arya Stark — whose family emblem is the wolf. Taylor-Joy also returns to her roots to play Magik, a character with the power of sorcery and teleportation. The British actress first came to public attention in 2015’s The Witch.
New Mutants is expected to be release April 2018
