Margaret Howell’s spring/summer 16 show was a breath of fresh air, true to the lyrics “Easy like a Sunday morning,” in every sense. Never one to rely on gimmicks or back stories, Howell just produces brilliant menswear. Models strolled down the bright white runway to the sounds of The Jim Jones Revue’s Collision Boogie in shades of slate black, white, beige and olive green. Whether they were trousers, shirts, shorts or jackets, garments all came loose and boxy, allowing breathing space for an optimistic summer breeze. Standout pieces were the extra long mackintoshes, polka dot silk scarves and oversized, turned up jeans, set off by subtle styling in the form of socks and sandals, and folded over dungarees belted at the waist. If you want relaxed menswear that’s right every time, your go to designer is Margaret Howell. But you probably already knew that.
