Like shooting hoops with Michael Jordan, singing karaoke with Mariah Carey would be a pretty un-fun friend hang. She wouldn’t just win, she would destroy. Luckily for her gal pals though, Mimi categorically does not enjoy throwing back Sapporos and belting out “Always Be My Baby.” In an interview with The Cut, the singer reveals, “I really don’t do karaoke because it becomes a vocal performance rather than fun like, ‘Let’s just sing this song and be silly.’ It’s not fun for me.”
So what is Mariah doing with her Friday nights? Probably lounging in her Moroccan Room. Because, this just in: she still has it. Mariah confirms that the crown jewel of her palatial Manhattan triplex is still as it was in her epic Cribs episode. The only updates to her “ultimate bachelorette pad” (which incidentally includes a shoe closet bigger than your apartment) have been bedrooms for her kids.
On a more topical note, Mariah will probably be voting for Hillary in the election. Though she is reluctant to commit when pressed: “We love everybody,” she says. “That’s my typical statement – my nonpolitical ‘get me out of this.'” She’s also in no rush to pen a theme song for Hillary – or for anyone but herself, for that matter (take a minute to reacquaint yourself with “Mariah’s Theme“). What do you expect from a woman who uses the royal “we” to answer interview questions?
