In their 29 years on planet Earth, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have hosted some serious bangers. Slumber parties, Hawaiian luaus, camp-out parties, ballet parties, mall parties, (whatever the hell those are): there is no occasion America’s fraternal sweethearts have failed to celebrate in painstakingly coordinated thematic ensembles. Or so we thought.
This past weekend, the twins got back in the saddle (shout out to 1994’s wildly underrated How the West Was Fun) and threw themselves the party that never went straight-to-VHS: the Olsen Olympics. Gathering friends and loved ones for a backyard celebration in the Hamptons on Saturday, the twins posed the question we’ve spent almost three decades asking ourselves: Team Mary Kate or Team Ashley? Guests swore allegiance to their respective CFDA award winning overload by donning t-shirts that we’re seriously hoping make a comeback on The Row’s spring/summer 16 runway.
As seen on Instagram, some of the showdown’s events included a dunk tank and tire-laden obstacle course. But we all know what a real Olsen Olympics would consist of: making the perfect prune face (bonus points if it ends up on Vanessa Friedman’s Vine,) putting things on a pizza, and death defying Razor scooter races in bucket hats a la Winning London.
Reports suggest that Team Ashley brought home the coveted top title, although MK definitely got the hotter boyfriend in Passport to Paris so who’s the real winner?
