Comedian James Corden joked that last night’s CFDA Awards were like “Groundhog Day, but with Swarovski.” And yep, nearly every one of the shortlisted designers had been nominated for a CFDA statuette before. But just when scrolling through Instagram was beginning to feel like one bad case of deja-vu, there she was, tearing up the red carpet in floral Zac Posen. Maya Thurman Hawke, the 16-year-old daughter of uber-babe Uma Thurman and teen grunge god Ethan Hawke, is the latest celebrity offspring (with three names) to throw her hat into the fashion ring.
For her first solo expedition down the red carpet (she’s been spotted with her parents at premieres and Oscars events before), MTH wore a billowy floor-length Zac Posen situation embroidered with beaded flowers. She accessorized with Posen himself, who walked her down the step and repeat and Instagrammed several pictures of her doing her thing — posing, pirouetting, generally looking cute — captioning one “my gorgeous date tonight.”
While Maya doesn’t yet have the cultish internet following of reigning teen queen Lily-Rose Depp, this could well be the beginning of her ascent. LiRo, watch the throne.
