Drake’s comeback track to Meek Mill’s claims that he has ghost-writers creating his raps seemed like it might be the end of their beef, but Meek has hit again with Wanna Know, calling Drake a “fan”, a “dork” and a “buttercup” in the process.
The track sees Meek unrepentantly pushing the idea that Drake is a fake; not only having lines written for him, but also copying other rappers’ flows. The cover for the track sees Drake as a member of shoulder-padded, long-braided pop duo Milli Vanilli, who won a Grammy in 1990 for Best New Act, only have it stripped from them when it emerged they didn’t even sing lead vocals. There’s also an OVO owl wearing white-sheet-with-eye-holes, plus claims in the song that things are “getting spooky” – obvious references to the supposed ghost writing.
If Drake’s line “Is that a world your or your girl’s tour?” is the killer line from his diss track, then the one that’s stuck in Wanna Know is one of the final lines: “You let TIP homie piss on you in a movie theatre n***a, we ain’t forget.” Twitter has been on fire trying to figure out what this refers to. We’re not one for gossip, but here are some suggestions.
We await another Drake rap riposte, and wonder if this will ever end.
