One of the downsides of spending seven years riding in the presidential state limousine is spending seven years not being able to rock out in the passenger seat — not on road trips, not on supermarket trips, and definitely not en route to the Democratic National Convention. This is the situation Michelle Obama found herself in — bar one small rockout during her daughter Malia’s driving lesson — when James Corden pulled up at the White House for a round of carpool karaoke yesterday. Understandably, she was pretty excited, even bringing her BFF Missy Elliott along for the ride. FLOTUS and Missy took the opportunity not just to get their freaks on to the latter’s seminal 2001 rap anthem but also to break out the lead single to Obama’s Let Girls Learn campaign, “This Is For My Girls.” Other highlights: Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” and a grilled cheese sandwich discussion. The video is only 14 minutes long, but it definitely contains seven years worth of front seat fierceness.
