Miley Cyrus has revealed a characteristically colourful and psychedelic video for the slow jam Lighter, a track from the Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz album that she made with the Flaming Lips and dropped in full for free online whilst she hosted this year’s VMAs.
“Fuck yeah!” Miley Cyrus writes on Facebook, “After our 1st show in Chicago (which was totally turnt) we loved seeing y’all singing along to all the Dead Petz jamsssss but seemed like this one was a fan favourite!!!!! For all of you who can’t be with us in Detroit tonight and of course for all of you who will here is the official Lighter music video directed by me and Wayne Coyne featuring Jen Stark’s bad ass animated kaleidoscopic projections!!!!!”.
The track really shows off Miley’s beautiful singing voice and, although artist Jen Stark’s colourful projections dance mesmerisingly across her face, the video is pretty stripped-back: just Miley singing with close-ups of glittery eyes and lips, and, of course, her now trademark spliff.
