While Morrissey also doesn’t want to see you catching any Pokémons up in this bitch, at least The Smiths frontman has another option for fans who can’t get enough of creature-themed video games. His is an 8-Bit arcade-style game called The Beautiful Creature Must Die, a collaborative venture between Moz, Peta, and indie game developer This Is Pop. While the meat-free musician’s many previous animal welfare endeavors haven’t included video games, this isn’t Peta’s first rodeo. Soon after Pokémon Go launched, the company created a parody version of the AR app called Pokémon Black and Blue: Gotta Free ‘Em All!
The new game is aptly soundtracked by The Smiths’ “Meat Is Murder” and involves trying to save farm animals from being slaughtered by spinning blades and bombs. “This game is the biggest social crusade of all, as we safeguard the weak and helpless from violent human aggression,” said Morrissey in a press release. “You don’t get that from ‘Pokémon Go.”
Have a crack at the game here.
