Mowalola’s ‘Don’t Die’ playlist is a big weekend mood

To celebrate flexing her curation skills for Boiler Room Festival 2021, the London designer has made us a soundtrack worth living for.

Last night, Mowalola Ogunlesi took over The Cause in North London with a line-up she’d curated boasting Deto Black, Digital Nas, Hook, Mechatok, Namasenda, Odunsi The Engine and Vivendi Sound. Damn! Part of Boiler Room Festival 2021, the event (dress code: “drip or die… obviously”) was just one of four nights welcoming nightlife back to the city with open arms. For those that missed it — or indeed, those that didn’t and want more of that good stuff — the British Nigerian designer (and model, future-filmmaker and all-round creative genius) has made i-D a playlist of music worth staying alive for.

Created under the banner, “Don’t Die, by Mowalola”, it’s a mood-improving selection that kicks off with “Banana Clip”, her summer collaboration with the aforementioned Swedish PC Music artist, Namadensa. Cries of “shots after shots” give way to tracks by Mowa’s friends, faves and collaborators including Rico Nasty, Paris Texas, Hook, Slater, Bktherula, Yves Tumor, LOLA and more. It’s honestly all killer, no filler. Naturally, her track “WAWA” with Mechatok, Lancey Foux and Bby$lut is on there too — while we’re on the subject, we echo the sentiments of the fan who pointed out that we are in desperate need of a full Mowalola album.

Until that day comes, hit play on the below as we leave you with the designer’s immortal words: “Don’t die tonight so we can live 4ever!”
