So this is Christmas, and look what Mulberry has done: a festive film to bring good tidings to all. Enlisting the narrative skills of Hugo Guinness, the magical mind behind The Grand Budapest Hotel, and the unique vision of Albert Moya, It’s What’s Inside That Counts tells the story of a traditional British Christmas, starring some squabbling sisters, a new boyfriend, a son with secret, and a typical hoity toity mother, all played by adorable child actors.
“When I was a kid, all that I wanted to do was to be grown up so I could be like my dad,” says Mulberry’s Creative Director Johnny Coca. “Now that I am an adult, I just want to be a kid again! Christmas brings out the kid in all of us, and this is what I love about using children to tell our story this year.” Set on the night before Christmas, part one focuses on the generosity of older sister Rose, who decides to gift her sister her own Mulberry Bayswater bag. With nothing but leftover paper to wrap it, she concludes that it’s what’s inside that counts. Take a peak at the charming video below, and watch out for part two which premieres later this month.
