The super clean, super chic aesthetic of NARS Cosmetics has made it one of the pioneering make-up brands for more than 20 years. Their tongue in cheek product names such as Orgasm and Deep Throat have long added a distinctive personality to the sometimes sterile make-up floor and become firm favourites with women around the globe. NARS has recently appointed make-up artist Andrew Gallimore as its UK Make up Artist Ambassador, Gallimore who has painted the faces of i-D cover stars Cara Delevingne and Lily Allen, as well as countless i-D editorials will be tasked with furthering the vision of Founder and Creative Director Francois Nars.
What iconic NARS look or imagery sticks out in your mind?
I think I would have to say the Francois Nars book, X-Ray, as it was actually the first make-up book I ever bought. I love the pictures of Grace Jones and all the super-models and actors and artists… I especially love the picture of artist David Hoyle.
Who’s your ultimate beauty icon?
That’s such a difficult question to answer… I find so many people iconic for their beauty but I think for me, it’s Kate Moss – as Carly Simon sang “nobody does it better”!
What is the best way to wear make-up?
With confidence and self-expression!
