i-D cover star Natalie Westling features alongside Aya Jones, Willow Hand and Julia Nobis in Prada‘s new campaign for Pre-Fall 2015. The moody shoot by Steven Meisel is set against a grey backdrop, putting focus on the male-female model pairs in each shot, in order to interrogate the “complexities and contradictions” of gender, asking, “What do men take from women? What do women keep for themselves?”. “The most profound influences from one to the other are often the least apparent, the least visible,” says Prada, adding that, “These exchanges still charge the cultural sphere”.
Black nylon, a Prada favorite, features heavily in the collection, alongside heavy check wool trench coats and mini skirts, knit sweaters and leather car coats, accessorized with snakeskin gloves and neat frame bags. The menswear offering adds camel wool coats, slightly loose-knit grey jumpers, short-sleeve shirts and black nylon trenchcoats. Details cross between the menswear and womenswear, with nylon bows and epaulettes resembling each other. Hair by Guido and make-up by Pat Mcgrath gives the shoot a retro 60s mod feel, with heavy eyeliner, combed-down fringes and built-up crowns.
