Run the Jewels — the loud, unruly collaborative project of Killer Mike and El-P — have just dropped a video for Oh Mama, and it stars divisive animated duo, and Szechuan sauce zealots, Rick and Morty. The track, which lyrically considers the trials and tribulations of life out on the streets of New York, is taken from their third studio album, RTJ3, which came out way back in 2016. However, given the recent announcement that the duo will headline Adult Swim’s first-ever music and comedy festival, the collaborative project between the two parties isn’t so surprising.
Helmed by Rick and Morty director and animator Juan Meza-León, the video sees the cartoon characters traverse through multiple dimensions on a mission to retrieve the unidentified contents of a suitcase. True to form, it descends into a brutal killing spree; one that ultimately ends in betrayal. It’s Pulp Fiction in outer space.
With Season Four a long way off, this might just be the most Rick and Morty you’ll get for a while.
