Chance the Rapper led a procession of thousands to an early voting site in Chicago last night, including the crowd from a pre-election concert he performed at Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park (which was moved from Virgin Hotels Chicago due to capacity concerns). It was was hosted by his new non-profit SocialWorks. The local artist has also facilitated voter registration during his tour, in person and online.

It is possible in many states to vote before election day, without needing to give any reason why you wish to do so. The policy is to try to get more people out to vote. Tweeting before the gig, Chance said, “Come wit me I ain’t voted yet either #paradetothepolls.”

Videos shared on social media show the thousands of people crowding the streets on the walk to the early voting site, and queuing up outside the polling station.

In a release sent ahead of the event (and before the venue change), Chance said, “This election is very important, a chance for new leaders and new opportunities to emerge,” adding, “SocialWorks and I are proud to partner with Virgin Hotels Chicago, Boost Your Voice, and The TurboVote Challenge to give everyone a voice in the democratic process and encourage people to vote, both locally and nationally.”

Chance himself likely voted for Hillary Clinton, after appearing at a benefit concert for her in Cleveland last Friday, alongside Beyoncé and Jay Z.
