Happy Monday! The new week is here and with it comes the chance to delve deep into some fresh culture and fashion. Here’s your latest look at the i-D Guide.
Listen to… a new EP by Creams
Back in 2019, we introduced you to Creams, a young musician from Tblisi, Georgia making “stormy, confessional electronica”. Also known as Natia Chichinadze, now she’s released her ambitious second EP, PIE. Across five tracks — including emotional outlet “Let Me Fight” and twisted lullaby “Day ‘n’ Night” — she crafts a dystopian world of myths and monsters; somehow just as much for a moody late-night dancefloor as it is your emotional support playlist. Watch the accompanying short film then follow Creams on Instagram here.
Wear… Thomas Sabo’s Charmista As We Dream
Earlier this year, makers of coveted jewellery Thomas Sabo unveiled a new membership concept, Charmista, as a way of letting their most loyal fans know about the best new charms ahead of time, and the promise of discount codes. Now, a brand new charm collection has been created in its name. Charmista’s As We Dream lets Thomas Sabo fans sink into a comforting stupor, with their sights set on the night sky. In the collection, you’ll see motifs like rocket ships and astronauts, UFOs and aliens. What’s more, they all glow in the dark. Check out the collection here and learn more about Charmista here.
Wear… Aries x Crocs
Fans of nature-based retreats and pebbly beach walks rejoice: the new Aries x Crocs capsule collection is for you. Centred on the Hiker Xscape Clog in two colourways, desert grass and slate grey, the platformed design features a removable knotted climbing rope strap and a handful of charms that mimic amethyst, seashells and even tiny mushrooms. To celebrate the launch, photographer Colin Dodgson and i-D Creative Director Jonny Lu have created a limited edition 32-page zine with Innen Books as well as a very aesthetic short film made with Dario Vigorito. Check out the full collection here.
Wear… Stüssy & Tekla
When something just makes sense, why would you ever stop doing it? Thankfully that seems to have been the realisation Stüssy and Tekla came to after a series of collaborations that have seen the brands seamlessly blend their aesthetics. Their latest capsule is no different – across a selection of bedding, poplin sleepwear, bathrobes and terry towels, Tekla’s signature stripes meet Stüssy’s swirls as the duo introduce a refreshing lime green colourway. The multi-stripe towelling shorts are a real heatwave essential. See the full collection here.
Buy… the Polaroid I-2 instant camera
This camera is already at the top of every photographers’ wish list. Boasting a super-sharp lens, bluetooth connectivity and a full four years of development from experts across the world, the Polaroid I-2 is the first analog instant camera with built-in manual controls. Put simply, it’s everything you love about the classic design but seriously evolved. Learn all about it here.
Read… ASTRO Zine
Director and photographer Tom Ivin will be launching volume 2 of ASTRO Zine, this time documenting the most stylish young people he came across during one long, hot week in New York City. There’s a launch party at The Photographers Gallery in London on Thursday 14 September, but if you can’t wait until then, the first issue — a snapshot of London youth — is still available here.
Go to… Boy.Brother.Friend’s event at South London Gallery
Kenneth Ize is set to unveil his latest collection on 16 September during London Fashion Week at South London Gallery in Camberwell in a day-long party celebrating food, fashion and music from 12pm to 8pm. Artist Chloe Filani will grace the main gallery with a performance too, while K Bailey Obazee will be doing readings, and a yet to be announced musician will perform in the glorious SLG Garden. Then there’s the mouth-watering food and refreshing drinks, all provided by Tasty. A whole day out sorted!
Go to… Raf’s!
The downtown New York restaurant has become known for it’s Italian and French fare, with a menu featuring everything from oysters and escargot to their buzzed about roast chicken. If you haven’t been able to get in and try it just yet, luckily, Raf’s is now open for breakfast and lunch. And just in time for New York Fashion Week too!
