As a young artist who’s truly harnessed the power of the internet to spread his music and a liberating message of acceptance, Troye Sivan is fast becoming a voice of his generation. This week he added to his cultural cache by teaming up with Alessia Cara on a makeover of his track “Wild.” The song, which was co-written and produced by Australian musical prodigy Alex Hope, was originally released late last year.
Alessia, a singer and songwriter signed to Def Jam Recordings, shot to fame last year with the release of her soulful anti-party anthem “Here,” which explores the relatable story of feeling uncomfortable in social situations and was for “everyone who secretly hates parties.” Infused with meaningful lyrics about focusing on what’s real and important, the song instantly struck a chord thanks to its authentic message and has so far amassed almost 100 million YouTube views.
