Moving away from her trademark gentle Scandi pop sound to something more ecstatic, “Conqueror” is 19-year-old Aurora Aksnes’ confident, feel-good pop hit, and our second taste of her debut album, All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend.It’s still as dark as debut single “Murder Song,”but it’s major key darkness, mixing cuteness with fatalism. It’s also a showcase for the singer’s ability to move beyond her ethereality into something earthy, she told us the new album will have a viking influence, promising it will be “heavy, dark and emotional album.” It’s full of big pop hooks whilst never straying into cliches, using an offbeat structure and enigmatic lyrics to build a captivatingly perfect odd electropop song.
